Mon. 8 - PARAMOUNT PRODUCTIONS - Auditions for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The smash hit Brodway show, presented as the Paramount's annual summer musical, auditions for singer/actors. Auditions are open to any performer 16 or older. Bring a song of your choice to perform. An accompanist and a CD playback device will be provided. For more information email the theatre's Artistic Director. Thurs. 12 - ARTWALK - 24fps International Short Film Fest "Rest of the Best" special short film screenings, 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This special presentation of short films includes the two finalist for the 2009 Young Filmmaker Showcase Awards, a part of the competition for 24fps, the Paramount's international short film festival. Hannah Capra of Abilene, Texas and Dom Fera of Turnersville, New Jersey are the two YFS finalists. Their work will be screened along with 7 other short films from around the world. Admission is free. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds star in this hiarious romantic comedy about an overbearing book editor about to lose her visa and be depoted back to Canada. To stay in the country, she forces her put-upon assistant to marry her. The films also features Betty White in a scene-stealing role as Grandma Annie. 2009, color, 108 minutes, rated PG-13. The 2009-10 Paramount live concert series concludes with Hot Club of Cowtown, the dynamic trio whose fusion of western swing and jazz has brought them worldwide recognition. This intimate concert is presented by the Paramount Theatre and Abilene Public Radio. Tickets are reserved seating at $35, $30, $24 and $17 depending on location.
