About the filmmaker: BRADY LETZ is an aspiring young filmmaker who grew up in Borger, Texas, but now lives in Abilene. He is 13 years-old and has been making films (live action as well as stop motion) for several years. Brady hopes to go on to a career in the film industry as a director.
The Choice

About the film: A homeless boy faces the poor choices he made that pushed him to violence.
About the filmmaker: EVAN HEARN, 15, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. In the fifteen years since then he has moved ten times, through five states and seven cities, including a year long stay in Abilene, Texas. He currently resides in Austin, Texas where he is a sophomore at Westwood High School and in the top 3% of his class. He hopes to finish high school and attend the University of Texas at Austin and become a filmmaker.

About the film: When the line between reality and imagination becomes blurred, you can only trust yourself. Where do you turn when you don’t even recognize your own reflection?
About the filmmaker: STEPHEN WILSON, 17, recently moved to Abilene, Texas from Virginia. His documentaries have won awards at the Virginia National History Day two years in a row. He currently operates a camera at Shotwell Stadium working with the AISD Video Communication class. He is also a prolific writer and has been published by the Piedmont Area Council Young Author’s Competition for his short stories. He plays guitar and often scores his own films.
The Art of the Deal

About the film: Lonely and feeling left out, a young boy uses his own cunning ways to get the attention he craves from his “supposedly” corporate-savvy mother.
About the filmmaker: EMILIO MAZUR, 13, is from Flower Mound, Texas and has already enjoyed many successes in the television and film industry as an actor. His most recent credits include a guest-starring role in Warner Brothers’ new online series “Exposed,” and he is best known for his role of “David” on “Barney and Friends.” A Native of Maryland, he took his experience in the film and TV industry and his love of Legos and began making stop-motion Lego films. This is his first live action film. He is determined to go to UCLA and major in film production.
The films by these exceptional young artists will receive public exhibition in two different venues during the months of November and December. Their Official Competition Screenings will take place at the landmark Paramount Theatre on Thursday, November 13, 2008 as a part of the downtown cultural district’s monthly ArtWalk celebration. The program of four films will begin at 7:30 pm. The 2008 24fps Young Filmmaker Award will be presented at the conclusion of the program. The screenings are free to the public.
In addition, all four 08 YFS films will be presented as part of an ongoing exhibit at the Center for Contemporary Arts, a progressive artist member gallery located one block from the theatre. The CCA exhibit screenings will be open for viewing during the months of November and December in the center’s Gallery Four.
